STRATEGIES TO DEALING WITH LAYOFFS

So, you have been laid off from your company. Or, you think there might be a Layoff. Well, what should you do immediately?

1) Review your employment agreements or contracts with the Company. Make sure correct procedures have been or will be followed for a layoff, in accordance with your agreement or contract. Review with an employment attorney, if possible.

2) Make sure there is no personal information on company computers. If you do, please remove and take with you all personal files and photos from the company computer.

3) Review your health and financial documents with the company. In particular, focus on health insurance, COBRA, etc.

It is really hard to look at company information when you have been laid off. But, please do review them within a few days of getting the bad news. If you think there might be a layoff, please review company documents before you get the bad news.
